Coaching Staff

Varsity Head Coach:  Shannon McClellen

Coach McClellen is a graduate of Clear Creek High School where she played volleyball and softball.  She went to state her senior year in volleyball at Clear Creek.  She went on to play Collegiate Volleyball at Lee College.  She received her BS in Mathematical Sciences from UHCL and currently teaches Algebra 2 Honors. Coach McClellen is in her 23rd year of teaching and coaching.  Her first 11 years were spent at Clear Creek where she coached volleyball and softball. She is in her 12th year as a Head Coach at Clear Spring HS.  Her Varsity record is 283-159.  Coach McClellen is a four time “Coach of the Year” for the 24-6A district and has also received recognition as Galveston County “Coach of the Year”.  The Clear Springs team has made playoffs nine of the eleven years she’s been at Clear Springs, they have made it to the final 4 in Region 3 four times….the last 3 years in a row.  Every year the program and players continue to get stronger.  She has had 46 players receive offers to play volleyball at the next level in her 11 years at Clear Springs.  She hopes to continue improving the CSHS program and setting new records in the years to come.

Coach McClellen would not be as successful without the support from her amazing husband, Ryan.  You can see him at most matches multitasking, trying to pay attention to the games and keep their daughter entertained.  He is Clear Springs Volleyball’s #1 supporter.

JV Coach:  Ryan Davies

Ryan Davies grew up in Simi Valley, California, where he played beach volleyball and played high school volleyball as an Outside Hitter and Defensive Specialist.  He graduated with a Math Education degree from BYU, and has a Masters in Education Administration from Lamar University. This will be his 13th year coaching volleyball and his fifth year at Clear Springs. For the past four years, the JV team has gone undefeated in district while only dropping 3 sets. JV also has multiple tournament championships and top 3 finishes. He has also been a speaker at the GHVCA coaches convention.

Ryan also coaches club volleyball at AVA, where he’s coached teams to an AAU National Championship in the Crystal Division, an 11th place in GJNC’s, and multiple top 3 finishes in other tournaments. He is the Hudl Director and has also been the Local Teams Director. This will be his 9th season at AVA.

Ryan and his beautiful best friend Mandy have been married for 18 wonderful years. They have 3 kids: Boston, Sammy, and Poppy. All three have red hair.

Freshman B Coach:  Haley Stevenson

Haley Stevenson was born and raised in League City, TX and graduated from Clear Springs in 2013. She played volleyball at Creekside Intermediate, where she earned 7A and 8A MVP. When she got to high school, she decided to focus on softball and went on to earn a Division I scholarship to play at Nicholls State University. She graduated from Nicholls in 2017 with a degree in Communications and minors in English and Film Studies. This will be her fifth year coaching the Freshman B Team, and Varsity Softball Team.

Freshman A Coach:  Lindsay Clark

Lindsay Clark grew up in Crosby and graduated from Crosby High School where she played volleyball. After high school she went to Texas Tech University where she got her Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition with a minor in Kinesiology. She is starting her 6th year teaching and 5th year coaching. She coached the Freshman team at Crosby High School for 3 years before joining Clear Springs and coached the Freshman B Team last year.

Athletic Trainer: Kara Foster

Kara Foster, ATC, LAT has been with Clear Springs High School since 2015.  She has been a certified and licensed athletic trainer since 2003.  She works with all the Clear Springs High School athletes to provide excellent medical coverage during competition and practices and to ensure proper safety when returning from an injury.

She graduated from Southern Utah University with a degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Athletic Training.  She then went on for her master’s degree from Boise State University; where she worked with multiple Division 1 athletes.

Upon completing at Boise State University, she worked with the New Mexico State University Aggies for 10 years overseeing majority of the women’s teams; primarily women’s basketball.

She is married to a wonderful husband, Bryan Foster, who supports all sports at Clear Springs High School.  Together they are trying to raise their 3 fur babies to best of their ability; Maverick, Goose, and Teke!!
