2026 Coaching Staff

Varsity Head Coach:  Shannon McClellen

Coach McClellen is a graduate of Clear Creek High School, where she competed in both volleyball and softball. She continued her volleyball career at Lee College, playing at the collegiate level before earning a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Houston–Clear Lake. She currently teaches mathematics and credit recovery courses.

Coach McClellen is in her 26th year of teaching and coaching. She began her career at Clear Creek High School, where she spent 11 years coaching volleyball and softball. Since 2012, she has served as the Head Volleyball Coach at Clear Springs High School, where she has built one of the most successful programs in the region. Her varsity record currently stands at 380–201.

Throughout her career, Coach McClellen has been recognized multiple times for her leadership and impact on the sport. She is a seven-time District 24-6A Coach of the Year and has also been honored as Galveston County Coach of the Year.

Under her leadership, the Clear Springs volleyball program has made the state playoffs 13 times, earned six district championships, and advanced to the regional final four on four occasions. The program continues to grow stronger each year, both in competitiveness and player development.

In her 15 years at Clear Springs, 57 players have received opportunities to play volleyball at the collegiate level, a testament to Coach McClellen’s dedication to developing student-athletes both on and off the court. She remains committed to continuing the program’s tradition of excellence and setting new records in the years ahead.

Coach McClellen credits much of her success to the unwavering support of her family—her husband, Ryan, and their daughter, Clara—who can often be found in the stands cheering on the team.

JV Coach: Lindsay Clark

Lindsay Clark grew up in Crosby, Texas, and graduated from Crosby High School, where she was a member of the volleyball team. She went on to attend Texas Tech University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition with a minor in Kinesiology.

Coach Clark is beginning her ninth year in education and her eighth year as a volleyball coach. She started her coaching career at Crosby High School, where she spent three seasons coaching the freshman team. She then joined the Clear Springs High School volleyball program, coaching the Freshman B team, followed by two years with the Freshman A team. Last season, she served as the JV coach and continues to bring her passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the court.

Freshman A Coach:  Kendall Howard

Coach Howard is a graduate of Clear Springs High School, where she was a member of the Chargers volleyball program for all four years, earning two years on the varsity team under Head Coach Shannon McClellen. She continued her volleyball career at the University of St. Thomas, competing as a setter for four years while earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing with a minor in Psychology.

Coach Howard currently teaches Honors and On-Level Geometry at Clear Springs High School. She is entering her fifth year of coaching and her second season as the Freshman A Volleyball Coach at Clear Springs.

As a former Charger, Coach Howard is honored to return to the program that helped shape her as both a player and a person. She is passionate about developing well-rounded student-athletes by emphasizing strong fundamentals, a high volleyball IQ, and a competitive mindset. She believes that mastering the fundamentals creates the foundation for long-term success and allows athletes to compete with confidence at every level.

Beyond the technical aspects of the game, Coach Howard is committed to helping her athletes develop mental toughness, confidence, and resilience. She strives to create a positive and competitive environment where players are challenged to grow, support one another, and reach their full potential both on and off the court.

Coach Howard is proud to be part of the Clear Springs Volleyball family once again and is excited to continue the program’s tradition of excellence while preparing the next generation of Chargers for success at the sub-varsity and varsity levels.

 

Freshman B Coach: Trinity Atkins

Coach Trinity Atkins was born and raised in Bastrop, Texas, and is a graduate of Cedar Creek High School in Bastrop ISD. She continued both her academic and athletic career at the University of St. Thomas, where she competed as an outside hitter on the volleyball team for five years. Coach Atkins earned her bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a minor in Psychology.
Prior to joining Clear Springs High School, Coach Atkins spent five years coaching club volleyball with Houston Skyline, working with athletes in the 12U through 15U age groups. This year marks her second season at Clear Springs High School, where she serves as the Freshman B Volleyball coach and a Track & Field coach.
Coach Atkins is passionate about helping student-athletes develop not only their athletic skills but also their confidence, character, and leadership. She is excited to continue mentoring her athletes and supporting their growth both on and off the court.

Athletic Trainer: Kara Foster

Kara Foster, ATC, LAT has been with Clear Springs High School since 2015.  She has been a certified and licensed athletic trainer since 2003.  She works with all the Clear Springs High School athletes to provide excellent medical coverage during competition and practices and to ensure proper safety when returning from an injury.

She graduated from Southern Utah University with a degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Athletic Training.  She then went on for her master’s degree from Boise State University; where she worked with multiple Division 1 athletes.

Upon completing at Boise State University, she worked with the New Mexico State University Aggies for 10 years overseeing majority of the women’s teams; primarily women’s basketball.

She is married to a wonderful husband, Bryan Foster, who supports all sports at Clear Springs High School.  Together they are trying to raise their 3 fur babies to best of their ability; Maverick, Goose, and Teke!!
